So seems its February do it mean its spring?

When I was growing up the 1st February was always the first day of spring!

I do believe the 1st of Feb in Ireland is the first day of Spring but in England I think the 1st Mar is the beginning of spring !!
Now I might be stranded to be corrected

Well, finally that's January done and dusted! It was one long depressing month - well, if was for me anyway.

On the plus side this is a leap year. According to an old Irish legend, St Brigid struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men – and not just the other way around – every four years. So no doubt I will be inundated with proposals from loads of gorgeous women

I think January was rough on everyone. But still what would life be without a bit of drama?(I'm on painkillers don't take that phrase into consideration 😂😂&#128514 hopefully February will bring better weather but looks like Storm Henry is on its way...

And as Sophie said Valentine's Day is coming soon, but the best day is after Valentine's Day! Half price chocolate at Tesco's!!!

Traditionally St Bridget's day is the first day of spring but in meteorological terms it is March 1st.
Today is Candlemas day or groundhog day . I remember as a child the saying "Candlemas day bright & clear means two winter's in one year".
Then there's something about the groundhog seeing his shadow.

I never heard that Spring began on the 1st. of February - well, I have never seen it published anywhere! Astronomically in the Northern Hemisphere spring begins with the equinox on the 20th. of March. It is also known as the Vernal equinox.

However from a Meteorological point in the Northern Hemisphere the official spring season begins on March 1st.

It is the difference between these dates that causes confusion - but either way we have a month to go before we see Spring
