    Synopsis form:

    • It is illegal to pay for sex with anyone under 18
    • It is illegal to make someone sell sex against their will
    • Brothel owners must have a certificate to run one. However up to 4 Independent escorts can work together without a certificate, as long as they keep their own earnings.
    • Refusal to work as a sex worker does not stop entitlement to unemployment payment.
    • This law is to be reviewed every 3 to 5 years by 11 appointed people for review.

This means that sex workers are protected by these clauses and can and do get people prosecuted for trying to abuse them in the work place or force them to do anything they are not happy to do. It completely protects those that are not working of their choice or those that are open to exploitation within the work place.
I think that the brothels would be a little hard to sell at the moment. However, the idea of two escorts sharing as self protection from traffickers and gangsters might be worth pursuing.

I never liked the idea of brothels...particularly the ones where you are allowed to see a few ladies for a minute and then have to choose one.
Never liked the idea at all. However The FKK clubs were much better. Only problem was that all the females were in a very narrow age group. Not a place to look for a more mature lady.

We would not be going to local politicians asking them to promote the sex industry. We would be going and asking them to promote a more effective law to prevent trafficking and women being coerced into sex work. We would be asking them to support a law which would drive the gangsters out of the business rather than a law that drives the business into the hands of the gangsters.

i think as well we should have reduced rates for those on the dole. those in recipient of social welfare get one free escort per week paid for by the government.

I'm all for a licence led industry & have said all along, that this type of scheme would deter traffickers. If escorts had to be registered to work in Ireland, the authorities would be able to target traffickers easier & it would be more cost effective.
