It is sad, i even feel ashamed, to be born in a country of criminals. I don't know if the word CRIMINAL it is actually too soft for the massacre that is being held in Romania. I know it might not be the place to post a thread like that, but at least i am sure there are a few here that really care about animals, and dogs and can help even by signing petitions, or maybe even contributing with donations. I don't care if i will be criticized for posting it, but i feel the need to share it with you and ask for help. It is killing me inside watching every day how dogs are being killed, decapitated, their paws cut and so on. Here is a short description of what is happening. I will post links where you can sign petitions (it only takes a few seconds).

A four year old child was killed by a pack of dogs in Bucharest, Romania. The measure that the authorities and a big part of the citizens thought of was to massacre ALL the dogs.
Although we understand that there is a traumatizing situation for the family of the child and we are aware that the suffering is hard to endure, we consider it to be too much killing all the dogs, without discrimination, regardless if they are aggressive or meek, adults or puppies. Most of them are gentle, humble and frightened. Very few people are caressing them, offering them food or water, but an overwhelming number jumps quickly to militate for their death.
What we are inviting you is to be there for these dogs, which have very few supporters, and help them escape this massacre! Just being born must not be a crime!

The idea of killing millions of dogs is awful but in most other countries we do this every day to strays and unwanted pets. The problem in Romania is that it seems the govt let the number of strays on the streets build up to an uncontrollable level and now that they are doing something about it it looks barbaric.

It is sad because they are not using an injection to euthanize them, but they are torturing them:

The powerless prey in this deadly dog hunt have been shot in the streets, beaten to death by gangs, skinned alive; stoned and hacked to death, poisoned; impaled on steel rakes, stabbed and left to die with their guts hanging out, hanged and mutilated, little puppies burnt alive, friendly community dogs butchered in public shelters, all of which is being gruesomely documented. Since the law passed, the government is allowing rescuers 14 days to save as many strays as possible and get them to makeshift shelters or available homes, but the sad reality is that there is only a handful of rescuers who can do only so much.

Just terrible.... As you said, it is not the act of controlling the population, but the method in which they are going about it is barbaric.
