Escorting may not legalised but I do think that the Irish government should take a realistic look at how much this industry contributes to the Irish economy. Take a look around, thousands of apartments up for rent, this number will rise if we are forced to stop working here. Yet more landlords lumbered with mortages on property that they have to pay out for. We work 12 months of the year, we stay & provide business for struggling hotels year round, even when the tourists have left. How much we spend on a weekly basis when we're working here. Take the sex industry out of Ireland & you will see the economy of this country go further into recession. Where will Rhumna be to answer the questions of those whose businesses are affected?

Whether or not the government want to admit it, the sex industry does contribute heavily to the economy.

Sandy, Have you ever had a phone call from Ruhama? Your number is publicly available so there is nothing stopping them from doing so. If they really cared about you and your "plight" surely they would try and contact you?

Nope never, but then again I've clearly stated on many other threads over this proposed legislation, that I am not trafficked, I am not a victim, I'm an educated woman who made an informed choice several years ago to work in this industry. I dont exactly fit their 'case' guidelines so as I wouldn't contribute towards their statistics, I can only guess that's why they've never been in touch or offered me 'their help'.
