Nor me. If someone messes up with drugs they should be punished and rehabilitated. Where humanly possible.

To err is human, to forgive divine no?

    Sure is

perhaps UAE need to think about it?
They are a sovereign nation, and they get to set their own laws. As a visitor to their country, we need to respect their laws.

That is not to say that I'd agree with their laws, but.

For comparison : Person comes to Ireland and lets say immolates his wife for adultery. That is an accepted custom in his own country.

Do you think he should deserve leniency because in his own country he would not be prosecuted (or even persecuted !!),

or do you think the Law of the Land (Ireland) should apply and he should be up for murder ??
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

well i have to say, compared to those stupid parts of the world,
Ireland is becoming enlightened on the illicit drug issue.

just last week, two men who were caught with 50 million of heroin
got 8 yrs each (minimum tariff was 10yrs). the judge exclaimed 'they
were trying to save their bacon' (from a business loss previously).
