Default Witchcraft torture couple jailed for life

I can't believe this happened in Britain!! (It could just as well have happened here! Although that is no where as shocking as the crime itself)

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/witchcraft-...124034043.html

The news article says that this sort of torture of minors suspected of being possessed by demons - is common in some parts of Africa!!!!!

Both Bikubi and the Bamu family hail originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where accusing children of witchcraft and then exorcising them is commonplace.
The practice is known as "kindoki" and during the trial, the jury was told it was the "driving force" behind the murder.

Seeing as how none of us had any choice in where we were born - we should be thankful daily that we didn't grow up in such an environment!!

It is a pity this things happen in nowadays but it doesn't surprise me that happened in Britain because it is the place where a lot of ancient pagan rituals were revived and many others invented in the 20th century.A big religious organization is based in Britain its leaders being called witches.

I was reading about this earlier. It's tragic. Sadly, it is all too common. I remember a 5 yr old boy went missing a few years ago in London. He was found in the Thames, another victim of the evil spirit purging belief.

Understand what you mean Lisa, although UK pagan religion is fairly innoculous and tame, more about running round woods naked or hanging around Stonehenge in funny capes. The Uk is now a multi cultural society and I'm affraid in these cases the folklore and traditions come with the people and the communities.

    According to the BBC:

"Scotland Yard said it had investigated 83
cases involving abuse resulting from ritualistic or faith-based beliefs over the last 10 years."

That, of course is just the cases that they heard about in London.

Don't forget the thousands of young girls taken each year from the UK for a holiday with the folks back home. There, they get genital mutilation with a rusty blade and no medical attention.

Appalling & just so sad. All of those children will be scarred for life.
BBC did a documentary while back on the back of a similar case.(Not pleasant reading!)

Not the same thing as "Wicca" at all, at all.

They are, as someone else notes, quite harmless (unless the sight of naked middle-aged people running around in the night counts!).

White witches and pagan pensioners? Too cool. They often hang around at Stone Henge. Usually naked. I cant imagine them making bloody sacrifices
