I'm afraid that I too have been doing a Christopher Hitchens and looking westward for the future. Ireland and Europe are looking more unattractive every day.

The Coast, the Desert, the Mountains !!

Within a couple of hours of sunning on the beach you can be up in mountains skiing..

Coast all year round temperate, take out a boat, fishing, waterski.. scuba. National Parks for hikes et al.

Great museums and theaters, excellent food and wine..

    The variety is really amazing..

And as you said : the girls !! I tell 'ya..
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

Parts of Europe are still above water. America has its own economic problems, but is simpler from a linguistic point of view.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

You can find some in most parts of the US. Some regions more than others. And I'm sure more will be arriving daily.

I split time between North America and Europe. I find there are things I like about both but am getting tired of the US attitudes things are getting strange and divided. If I had to choose a place to settle down it would have to somewhere along the coast of either Spain or Italy. Hopefully with a dog and perhaps a very hot, well-off confident guy! ;-)
