Hi all I am heading off to beijing shortly and was wondering if anybody has any idea what the scene is like over there. I hear girls approach you in hotel bars and also there are alot massage parlours. Just wondering if anybody has any expierence on what is the best option and on what kind of prices you should be paying. I speek some mandarin so hoping that comes in handy.

Be careful- Beijing has more fiddles going than the London Philharmonic.
When I was there a few years ago there were madams operating in the lobbies of two large hotels I stayed in.. but you may be better off dropping a few yuan on the bellboy for a proper heads-up ( or better yet slip him twenty US dollars, it opens a lot of doors). If you have some degree of fluency in Mandarin, use it to your advantage- don't show your hand straight up but wait until you're talking turkey before signalling that you know what the other party is saying
I have one dude who got into hot water ( ie robbed) by a taxi driver who brought them to the Haidian part of town- but know tons more guys who've had a great time.
BTW- while the the Forbidden City is worth seeing, if you have limited time I'd suggest you ask the concierge where to go exploring- there's tons of other stuff.

Thanks for the info franken996, yeah heard that beijing has alot of scams going on. Ive booked a car service with my hotel for airport pickup as i heard alot of false cabs around the airport. I have about a week there along with a week in shanghai and a week in hong kong. cant wait.

I was taken to a hotel where there was a whole floor of girls. Like a huge night club, only full of ladies.
