That would be my first port of call they can take the info from the sim and might be able to access the data from the device too.

It could very well be the battery. See if the shop will let you try it with a new one.

Warning - boring geek stuff follows:

A fully discharged Lithium Ion battery is a dangerous thing. If you try to charge it, it can burst into flames. As a safety feature, any device that uses such a battery will have a circuit that activates when you plug in a charger. If it detects that a charger is plugged in when the battery is completely dead, it will refuse to allow the phone to turn on or charge. In order to prevent complete discharge of the battery, the phone will shut down well before reaching that state. Perhaps when the phone was plugged in, it was not getting charge (cable not making full contact because of some dirt) but the phone could see some voltage and so did not shut itself down and drained the battery dead.

I think thats what happened with my satnav tonight. No connection. It wouldnt work until I cleaned all the bits of cornish pasty out of the lighter socket.

    Thank you Paris, and all

Took it to Vodafone, they were unable to power it up too..

Data cannot be transferred if you cannot turn on phone..

    Sent in for repair.

    Had to buy another phone..

    Not happy about it..
