If I were trekking (as apposed to being stuck on a dessert Island), I'd take the Count of Monte Cristo (Alexander Dumas).

Haven't read it in awhile, but tales of obsessive revenge tickle my fancy today!

Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably choose something else.

    Mellors,

It would be "The End of History and the Last Man" by Francis Fukuyama. Love the book; its dense reading, but intellectually stimulating.

    Regards.

You wouldn't want to be lugging a heavy book around the world !
Not many classics being mentioned so far, mine of course would be DH Lawrence - Lady C,s Lovers

Like I thought, I've changed my mind today. Today I want to take the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy for trekking around the world. Seems more appropriate as i'm likely to feel like a Hobbit while doing the trekking bit. Although I'd like to pretend I was a wizard!! (I have a vivid imagination and get carried away sometimes!)
