HD box has plently of room so that there is no need to delete.

There is NEVER enough room on the HD box! I spend my TV existence constantly staring into the abyss of my last 5% of space, realising that the stuff I want to record while I'm at work will take up at least twice that, and then spending an agonising half-hour trying to find stuff to delete!!! They should double the damn storage space!
