Default Tax increases hitting your pay packet

A gang of us got our monthly payslip today. We had been speculating how much we'd be down. As they were opened different people were down various amounts and calling them out. I stared at mine and calculated I was down over €400. I was asked how much I was down, and I said 2. Is that all?, someone asked. Oh, i mean 4, I said.

I was thinking of the amount of hours punting I was down!!!

    Just aswell I didn't say 2 hours :-)

Something is going to have to give. I'm definitely cutting back on envelopes and thank you cards!!

And maybe food, and who needs TV and electricity. Bleedin luxuries.

Goodness, that didn't feel good at all , sorry to hear that.

I am sick of this bloody recession ...
I'd like to see people happy again, going on lots of shopping sprees and holidays.
I am aware part of this got us into the credit crunch, but what the heck ... better in debt then counting pennies.

I get paid at the end of the month, and am dreading the damage. As for cutting down punting? I think like you - I'll just stop eating, drinking (water that is), and who needs heating anyway. Maybe I could sell a kidney? Thats sure to give me at least 10 punting hours!

As a fellow employer, we didn't lower any wages. We paid less wage and more traveling expenses, I don't know exactly I have nothing to do with wages. Thank god.

    This is great...
In some countries you get vouchers you can spend on food and they are taxed different or there is no tax. everybody needs to eat after all.
Does such a thing exsist in Ireland?

Maybe instead of getting pay in envelopes we should be putting the pay in "black box flight recorders"!!
