"Cheap marketing" posts and threads

It happens, but it's not a major problem. I just had a look through the list of the last 100 threads in General Chat. Not quite a fifth are by escorts. Most of those are clearly not self promotion threads. So I'm not too worried about it. Sometimes people may believe a thread is meant as advertising when it really isn't. There's a tendency when an escort posts something inane for us to assume that that she's just trying to make herself visible. But most threads started by punters are equally inane, and we aren't selling anything.

This is a public forum. Anyone can post and within reason they can post whatever they want.
So live and let live is what I say, let them post whatever they want.
What harm are they doing?
Too many ppl here that figure it's their way or no way.

Great point Jasmin,i see what you mean and i agree with you till a certain point.But i still think that if somebody is looking for good business for a longer term,it has to be done in a smarter way.

Absolutely agree with you. The type of threads you are referring to really aren't the best long term strategy.
But they are what they are, and are easily recognized as adverts. I've replied on some at times just being friendly as you never know, the lady may get more comfortable with posting here and actually participate in the forums.

But for me, it's not going to make me go see someone. And as you say if it comes across as desperate, it would be a negative in my opinion.

Being too obvious or looking desperate doesn't bother some people if they are getting what they want, I mean If you see that many people do reply to those threads and consequently business might be generated because of the started threads then why would they stop?
Probably it has a lot to do with the escort personality and style.

Escorts have so many ways to advertise on this siteur main profiles,profiles with a message board id and finally a whole forum called "Adverts" where we can say how great we are,what lovely things we can do,where and when do we travel.Isn't this great?

Let's face it,cheap marketing posts and threads are ridiculous and they can make an escort look desperate.

I like seeing escorts posting in the General Chat section and having a bit of banter and getting their opinions.
There have been accusations by members in the past that escorts use this section as an additional method of advertising which has caused a few to stop posting unfortunately.
As El Gordo has said, most of the threads started here are just the random thoughts of members purely to engage in the community.
When a member starts a thread about an escort he's a 'pimp' and when an escort posts a thread she's an 'attention seeker' Sometimes, you just can't win.

Btw Jessica, I don't think you could ever look desperate, no matter what.

I could'nt have put that better myself. As you say in addition to the paid for advert profile, escorts also have their posting profile which can carry advertising material and the advertising forums for posting adverts. The other forums, including General Chat, the Blog Section and Chat are there for other purposes and I find it a bit of a turn off when I find overt advertising material when I am using a part of the site where I don't except to see or want to be confronted by advertising.

However, all the advertising material in the proper advertising areas can only tell you so much about the person. As you correctly state, by engaging in General Chat and other forums, Chat and Blogs, the members can find out much more about a person, such as personality, sense of humour, likes and dislikes etc. Activity on the boards certainly increases an escort's profile and is a great marketing aid and enables her to build up a rapport with other members, but please keep adverts where they belong.

A bit like television channels in some countries, there is nothing as annoying as 5 to 7 minute advert breaks every 15 to 20 minutes when you are watching your favourite soap or a good film.

The reason why i've posted this on the "General Chat" is because i would like to hear some men opinions as well.

Personally sex is not the 'be and end all" of an appointment for me.
Therefore to have a truly successful meeting, i must like and respect an escort as a person.
By escorts posting on the general chat, i can hopefully get to know that individual better as a person and if the occasion arose, make an appointment.

There are several escorts who post here that I would genuinally like to meet.
By posting it sets them apart from those who just advertise.
For example, with over 30-40 ladies visiting Belfast on a regular basis, it perhaps takes something else rather than beauty to set them apart.

For a long term approach, by contributing to general chat in a personal way can help promote that escort in a better light than those who just use it as another medium to advertise.
