I'm not a big Beatles fan, my taste runs a little harder, and blueser. Rolling Stone magazine ran a feaatture on Keith Richards, and I was shocked at just how hard and determined these English musicans were to emulate Black Blues musicians from America; they really went out of their way, and was serious about it, forgoing pussy, and sometimes work, all they wanted to do is play the Blues.

I look forward to reading Keith's autobiography, it has to be the best autobigraphy ever written about a 'Rock God.

I am with you on that one Anita - Muddy Waters and Elmore James does it for me every time.

But yeah - there was a lot of English bands back then wanting to play the blues.

Incidentally, one of my favourite quotes from about that time was from Sonny Boy Williamson II who had this to say about those British bands:

"Those British boys want to play the blues real bad.

And they do play the blues real bad"

I think I will pick that up too! Yes, there are many white blues men regressing back to the earlier roots of Black Blues musicians. I am also a big Rolling Stones fan, Anita Many other bands heavily influenced by blues were The Who, The Yard Birds, Fleetwood Mac and such like, and traditional rhythm and blues is also a favourite genre of mine. Every year I try to get to the Colne R n' B festival in Lancashire (traditional Rhythm and Blues, not rap!) every August. There are some quality bands from all over the place that share their love for this wonderful music, ultimately the roots of all music today.

My personal choice in traditional blues artists include Otis Reading, B B King, Robert Johnson and Albert King.

There used to be a Guinness Blues festival every year in Dublin - now sadly no more

I saw Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Dr John, Eric Bibb, Robert Cray, and numerous others over the years

    Good picks.

Redding was the greatest, no question.

I was lucky enough to see Albert King - twice! Absolute legend.

Every year there's the Chicago Blues festival held in May and doing that time the 'Taste of Chicago' is also to held;the 'Tastes' features Chicago eateries. There's also a famous blues club called 'Kinston Mines', where alot of famous Rock and Blues musicians drop in and play

I'd love to go to the State of Mississippi where alot of the Blues musicans came from, alot of them actually relocated to Chicago, but there's one town that has aseries of shacks which Black 'sharecrappers' stayed in while they picked cotton; these shacks are now rented out to a lot of IT people who stay in them, sans electricity; the decor hasn't changed much, but the IT people like it all the same, I guess they want to keep it 'Real', and be reminded of humblier times; these 'Shacks' are a major Tourist attraction in the area.
