Users should take care, particularly those who use chat, as we have one or two trolls who pretend to be escorts. You are in danger of giving an unknown stranger personal details.

You should also look at the date someone joined. It is usually a new registration. Apologies to those who join for genuine reasons, perhaps this explains the initial 'chill'.

Of course. Some profiles are better than the real ones.

According to Pat, people have tried to register fake ad profiles, including paying, so you can't be sure. It's hard to know whether that was for access to the private forum, or to get personal information from punters. But most of the known cases have been non-advertising "escorts".

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

maybe I am a bit slow but what sort of 'personal information' would they try to get from punters?

I don't really know. I've never been the victim of one of these scams.

It has happened on every site across the world. Right now a Nigerian called Ebu is trying to get your email to ask you for a million pounds to free his countries funds. An American is trying to get to meet you to cut you to bits and hang your remains. A FBI agent is monitoring you for fundamentalism. A fundamentalist is monitoring you for recruitment.

This is the internet. Be afraid.
