But his user title is now 'banned user'. I know you can change it to whatever you want, so is it self-inflicted or was he banned.

Banned members don't appear on the list, and that list is arrange by reputation. I think Benny was fairly well up there but is gone now............

I wasn't prying. I was surprised to see 'Banned User' on his posts.
If I had seen the visitor message on his profile before I created the thread, then I wouldn't have started it.
I will be more careful in future.
