    Pools are pretty common in warmer areas of the States California, Florida, Nevada, Texas and some Souther States, but not all homes have pools, they're pretty expensive to get and keep; My Aunt owned her home for nearly 25 years before she got a pool, and that was through re-financing her home, and it did not increase the value of her home, but I'm sure should she choose to sell, it does make a nice selling point. About the dog, most people have an area in their backyards where the dogs stays; Most people I know in California have attack dogs so a dog wouldn't be roaming around their property.
