It's less now than before - used to avoid the city centre in Cork on Thursday to Saturday evenings because of drunks and high youngsters just looking for trouble - seems to have calmed down recently -

not an increase, but I have seen the odd bloke talking aloud to themselves walking
around. one would imagine that the authorities might try and help/support such an individual.
do you have a theory on this? have the HSE discharged a load to 'care in the community'.

Alzheimers and whats causing the mental probs is the stresses of modern day life mostly created by the so called powers that be and the rest by the ppl themselves.
Back in the 50's not that i was around back then , the killer was TB. There was no cancer much, there wasnt much mental probs that i have heard of anyway. Alot of these diseases and mental probs seem to go hand in hand with modern living.

i actually think there are less disturbed people in my area nowadays than say 20 years ago.
but if you are noticing more, maybe its a good thing.
don't forget, its not so long ago that these unfortunates would have been sent to some 'specialised' school or centre or home and basically kept out of 'normal' life.
now, the mentally disturbed are given the opportunity to mix and live in our open society.

Drugs bring mental problems to the forefront, and there is definetly an increase in that, just look how well the head shops were doing, people didn't just overnight decide to start talking drugs just because they were legal
