To be fair if I went to Saudi Arabia and kissed a girl on the check to say hello in public I would face a month in prison.
So I would have to repect the law of the land whilst I'm there even though it wouldn't be against my beliefs or relegion, so turnabout is fairplay.

    Well folks,

I'm literally just back from a week in Paris yesterday, and I was staying (part of the time) with a Tunisian Muslim girl I know, and I must say from 1st-hand experience, that the Burqa and the generally repressive behaviour of men over women in certain Eastern cultures simply has to come to an end, and should NOT be tolerated in Western countries.

The girl I was staying with, who I'd met here and been involved with for a few months before she moved back, was worried immediately upon my arrival about her neighbors and other people in the neighborhood seeing me entering/exiting her building, as rumours and rude things could be spread about her in the Muslim community if they knew I was staying there. Well sure enough, after the first night I was there, there was a note left on her door by an older (Muslim) neighbor, saying that they were offended and thought it was highly inappropriate for her to have me staying with her! This was followed by comments and stares as we went in and out of her apt the next few days, as her place is right by a market and hotel run by Arab/Muslims. She told me that as we were passing each time, they would be commenting about it in Arabic, saying that she was a 'slut' because she was letting me stay at her place.

A few days later, her phone started ringing at 5:30 in the morning-- she kept ignoring it until finally after being repeatedly woken up by it, I told her to answer it around 7:30. it was her half-brother, drunk and angry, telling her he was coming over to confront her (and presumably me as well) about the fact she was letting me stay there. 10 minutes later, there was a knock at the door, and she didn't answer it; she went out a few minutes later when she heard shouting in the stairs, and sure enough it was her drunken bother, yelling that she was a slut, and had a man in her apt. She rang the police because he was saying threatening things, and she told me he'd hit her last month. She then confronted him in the corridor, as I was just inside the door-- she managed to keep him occupied until the Police arrived and took him away.

I had to go and stay the rest of the time at a hotel, and she's now terrified that something even worse will happen to her because of this situation. Oppressive behaviour towards women like this has NO PLACE in Western societies, and it has to come to an end. I'm normally highly tolerant of the cultural beliefs/practices of others, but this was just too much to witness first-hand, and the horrible double standards placed on this girl by her family (despite them having lived in Europe for over 10 years, and her mother even being from Poland) are just terrible, and I hope they ban the burqa and all overtly oppressive behaviours towards women immediately.

    Welcome home Cable!

You have brought us back your field experience brother!
What a bad joke-I have to say. Slut? putting up a friend for a week or so?
People have to realize that France/Holland/UK/ROI are not primitive countries.
We strive to be progressive. Her drunk brother-they dont approve of piss either (I do admire this).
Her brother sounds like he has his house in order.

Well to be honest, I was having sex with her here in Ireland, and I did there as well. The thing is that it was just so over-the-top, the whole thing, showing up in the moring like that and the neighbors butting in with their opinions! I mean, everyone in the neighborhood being into her business, WTF? It was just uncalled for, and yes, the irony of the fact that her brother was out getting pissed all night, and then calling to see if she is behaving herself? They need to come off it, seriously. I don't know what makes them think they have the right to interfere so aggressively in the business of people they hardly know, or don't know at all.

And they're in France on top of it all; if they want to treat other people like that, they can take themselves to somewhere that kind of thing is acceptable. But it simply isn't acceptable in Europe, and has no place here.

But she is not yet your wife! What does God's bible say about that?
Nice to hear of someone getting a free dip! I hope the two of you were shouting
like wild beasts and those judgemental people heard it and felt aroused.

    Nice one Cable!

People believe all kind of weird things in the world, but thats fine by me as long as they don't try to impose their views on me.

I would have thought that visitors to this site especially would be liberal minded.

Now an escort wearing a burka, that would be something to see!!
I would never thought of France as non-liberal. I believe liberty is one of there
national principles. The burka must have caused some problems or perhaps the
French are racists. I doubt they would have allowed 10% of their population to
be Muslims with Arabic descent, if that were the case.

OK just to have my say, did you know that teh Burka was actually a Christian garment to give reverence to holy shrines and was adopted by our Muslim breathern.

Now I would like to see it banned if the women were forced to wear it but a lot of them choose to. It is part of their culture and identity. Most of us find it strange and opressive towards women but the fact is a lot of them (I wont say all) do in fact choose to wear it.

Are we actually going to inforce a dresscode for the nation?
There was a time wean wearing demins was seen as the work of the devil and seemed very strange to some people.

We cant really force people to abandon their religious/ cultural beliefs just to make ourselves feel better and help these poeple become more Westernised if they dont want to.

Are we going to ban the wearing of the Kippa next for the Jews and the Pope

Western and Eastern countries in a lot of cases are too far apart in traditions to even attempted to mix well.

    Sincerely,
    Westside.
