Sometimes I use 02 mobile broadband. The signal is sometimes HSDPA and other times UMTS. Lately I've noticed it been EDGE and when it's EDGE it's very slow. Why is their different types of signals at times?

All depends on the mast you have connected to and the amount of connections it currently has, I suppose there's some sort of contention ratio's working in the background. Edge is just glorified GPRS pushed out to it's limits where UTMS and HSDPA use a different technology allowing greater speeds.. Roll on WiMax on cellphones, already available in other countries since 2008.. Hopefully Imagine will support cell phones to connect to their network soon (if they don't already?)

My computer makes a noise similar to a fan very often. What could this be some sort of virus? I get alot of error reports too.

Several fans in a PC, if it's anyway modern or was high end a few years ago it will also have fans on the Graphics card, in the PSU, over the processor and possible one on the front sucking air in and on the back sucking it out (who's mind is in the gutter now ). Maybe it is clogged with dust, get a can of dry air from a PC store, take the tower unit outside and blow it out completely and see if it improves.. Hate to say it but a failing harddrives whirl also
