We are busy posters but we also post in our own mod forum where our post count goes up. this is one reason why we have a high post count another is that we are usually here on the site a lot

Again we may be, but taht should not take away from our modding ability. At the end of the day we are good at our roles as mods and regualer osters so why upset teh balence because a few posters think that we shouldnt be allowed have our own voice and opinions heard because tehy dont do it on other sites

but seeing as you and the rest of the mods are responsible for such an over whelming proportion of posts on this site shouldnt you step back from your position as mod and let someone else do it. i mean, is there anyone moderating the moderators to the same extent that the current mods are moderating us. if its true that the mods here are responsible for some 25% of posts then i dont think that those posts are scrutinised to the same extent as the rest of us

again i go back to the same example. why on earth qph decided to close this thread i dont know. it was hardly as abusive as he implied. and was there any censure for him after?

The only real alternative to having active members of the community as volunteer mods is to employ staff to work as mods. I think community mods bring much more to this site than staff mods would. Community mods are individuals with a keen interest in this industry. They are here because they care enough to want to help out here, not because they are being paid to, and likewise they are not lackies following my every direction, they are their own people with their own opinions. I think if we replaced them with staff you'd find a team of mods who didn't really care very much about anything and didn't do anything beyond enforcing some basic rules. Out current mods do a lot more than enforce some rules. They come up with great ideas, they talk to other users, make friends, care, help people out etc.

I don't think E-I is a private club at all. Everyone is welcome here, but the more you put in the more you get out. I pay more attention to what members say the longer they have been an active member here as these are the people who care and have knowledge etc.

Yes, me and various other staff. Also, shortly we will have a message boards manager starting, because I don't have the time to manage these boards and everything else I need to do, so we have hired someone specifically for that role, they will be starting in a couple of weeks.

I can agree with that, I have a bit of a rapour with Qph and Luther, if they were complete strangers, I probably would have been banned a couple of months ago, not to mention my old buddy Doozer and Highwayman, sure even Carlos has forgiven me now (I think). I committed a few sins with some of my pictures and in all fairness one of the mods for the second time politely asked me to refrain from doing so.

No darling, it's a completely new person, a member of staff, coming from a background of managing online communities but never even been on an escort site before themselves. It will take a bit of time for them to settle in, but the idea is they will take responsibility for making sure things run smoothly here, that users, mods and the other staff that come on here are all happy and things are getting done. Trouble with me is I'm too busy, so stuff keeps not getting done. It will be this persons job to keep tabs on what needs doing and follow it through with IT or whatever department needs to do it, to make sure it gets done.

I'm an occasional user to answer El Gordo's original question Id say it could be viewed as a private club. Obviously no fees, can post as much as you want, but as most posts are from same group then it can seem like a private club. Above thread by Alec Horan (May 2008!) I thought was very interesting re how everyday users gang together etc.
