also, it seems to me that there is a lot of people here who get banned. i may be wrong on that but i certainly have read about people getting banned or the threat of them getting banned alot on this site. on the few other forums i use i dont know of this being an issue. are the rules (which i haven't read) too strict? or are the rules enforced too strictly?

A lot of those rules were always there......at least they were there when I registered. Some were introduced subsequently to deal with behaviour that was deemed inappropriate or unacceptable and people would not stop, so nothing could be done until a rule was introduced to cover that situation. I dont take part on any other forums so I can't make comparisons.

Given that you're registered here for over 2 years and have never been banned, despite not having read the rules, it would seem that most of the rules are pretty much commonsense ones and easy enough to remain within for most reasonable people.

or perhaps some of the moderators are a bit over zealous in carrying out their duties? just because one person might take offense doesn't make it offensive. if that was the case then we'd all be crying MOD all the time.
as you say most of the rules are common sense but we also rely on the mods to have a bit of common sense too

Mods as I have said beforem dont want to ban anyone. Its counter productive and it gives us more work to do. We only ever ban as a last resort. The rules are there and for most they are followed as they are really common sense ones.
All people want to do here is read the posts and have a bit of craic
None of the mods want to take away from that
