Giving a person an asshole point does'nt mean that they are an asshole.......it means that the person giving them the point thinks they are. I cant see the logic of allowing a person who is frustrated with somebody else here, using a negative censure mechanism against that person to try and make themselves feel better. The true assholes will be the ones dishing out the points, not the recipients.

At least at the moment, if you disagree with what somebody has posted, you can reply with a post of your own and argue or debate the point. If people are able to anonymously issue asshole points to others that they don't particularly like, there will be no relationship between offensive or OTT posts and the accumulation of points by those posters.

Totally agree with Carlos, I dont think it is necessary to evaluate posters like that.

To get back on topic, I think the idea was to have a harmless way to let off steam. At the moment people let off steam by posting angry replies. I don't think I need to link any examples to show where that leads.

it seems like a good idea ..but it would be very open to abuse...i dont think it will stop the bitching if anything it might make it worse...is that possiable?

Maybe the site could organise an open day with the ladies and only those with a certain amount of rep would be invited, those that give out too many bad reps would be invited to stand outside and watch

I may be sorry I told you this but when you click on add to users rep a box opens and it has 2 options, approve or dis-approve, obviously the dis-approve is a neg rep..

By our very nature, as human beings, we are not going to agree on everything people say or think, here on the boards, in the workplace, or in daily life.
Healthy debate, that doesn't degenerate into a vulgar slanging match, is always worthwhile.
Any system, be it the reputation bar or reviews, is open to abuse, especially when it is done with total anonymity over the internet.
Let's just try the reputation thing, and if it's not working try something else. E-I run the website for the purpose of making money, advertising escort services, and have developed other areas, including the 'thanks' and 'repbar' to create a community.
Like all communities, people will come and go, people will argue, but it is only words.
There are parts of the world where someone can be killed for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and yet people on this forum want to constantly stir shit for absolutely no reason.

I don't agree with rep bars, but I think it would be better to do away with negative rep bars as then you can't just give someone negative rep when they piss you off. Otherwise think about when two people are getting in a fight, each of them will continually bad-rep the other... I know there's a limit to how much they can do that though.
