A POLISH man has been remanded in custody after he was charged in connection with discovery of a brothel in the city centre.
**************, was arrested on Tuesday when gardai searched the apartment where is lives.
He is accused of operating a brothel at the apartment on May 11 last and gardai allege he is involved in a wider prostitution ring.
A quantity of cash, four mobile phones and a laptop computer were seized at the apartment by gardai during the search.
Two female prostitutes were arrested at another apartment during a follow-up search and it is alleged that Mr ***** has connections to that premises.
Thirteen mobile phones and further quantities of cash were seized at that apartment and four alleged "customers" who were at the apartment have been interviewed by gardai. A
Limerick District Court gardai opposed a bail application which was made by solicitor on behalf of the defendant.
Judge refused bail and he remanded Mr ***** in custody to appear before the same court again on May 20, next.
The judge adjourned an application for free legal aid to the same date pending the completion of a statement of means by the defendant.
