However, I had zero respect for him (well, for his public persona) while he was alive and I have zero respect for him dead. Why would you expect someone to start respecting him just because he is dead? Would that not be extremely hypocritical or is going from being not-dead to being dead some sort of difficult feat that deserves respect?

I have tuned into Gerry Ryan for over a decade now.
I will really miss his show.
He was a very intelligent and articulate man that could could cover any topic and make it interesting, informative and fun.
He had great connection with people regardless of who they were or where they were from.
Its a sad loss and I will miss his pressence.
