Nuh uh, not even nearly. The escort is the consumer, not the provider (granted she "provides" the mobile number, but that's like saying that every time you enter a search term into Google, they become bound by Irish data protection laws which is clearly a nonsense). It is the provider in this transaction and indeed any transaction that has to adhere to the relevant data protection laws.
Anything's a dildo if you're brave enough.
Again, irrelevant. Doesn't matter where the data originally comes from (and anyway, I am suspecting that the word of one escort is not taken when blacklisting a number, that it is a cumulation of reports from different escorts) all that matters is where the data is stored and by whom!! To continue to use the Google analogy, is all the scary tracking data that they collect about you subject to Irish data protection laws because it is collected from a computer in Ireland? I don't think so....
Anyway, the vast majority of escorts in this country are not Irish residents or nationals. Seriously John, I write software for a living, this shit is my job and I've done it both in the UK and in Ireland, trust me I know what I'm talking about.

I'm not trying to be facetious but........
if I send a pm to Username A that Username B is a dangerous nut am I breaking the law?
I've said it before and I'll say it again - All the working girls have every right/ obligation to share information about punters amongst each other in the interests of their own safety.
If you are a Punter that disagrees with this then maybe you need to find another hobby, because you certainly dont have a realistic view of how scary a job escorting can be for the ladies.

Indeed, I actually meant to post a response very similar to that earlier but got sidetracked. Even if it was illegal and even if some nuisance punters have their privacy invaded it's a very small price to pay for any increase in the overall safety of even a single escort.

I also work in the software industry and have a lot of involvement with the data protection commisoneer. i think if you investigate further that in an instance like this the escort would be deemed to be a data processor under irish law and subject to that law.
Alec i also want the girls to be safe i just am not sure that making them criminals is the way to do that
Guys, I think we're getting a little sidetracked here.............
I think we should leave it up to Patricia and the E-I legal dept. to work out these issues, although I'm sure she appreciated it being highlighted........
