    Default Good topic.

Total waste of money. If the rising was not coinciding with the Great War, Tommy would have squashed the
    rebels like bugs.

Default NO Its a captured flag A point of dishonour

I suppose from a historical antique perspective it maybe important.
If money is an issue we should just make a fake one and say we brought it and say the one in New York is a fake or something. Problem solved.

    From a miliarty perspective.
Well the 1916 rising was a tactical defeat but a strategic victory if you consider the free state a victory.
As the tactical defeat the Irish should have destroyed the flag or hid it if it was in jeopardy of being captured by the Hun. Ovisously the IRA not being a fully regulated army in the conventinoal sense overlooked this detail on the day. If this is inteed the flag the IRA failed to destroy or hide it therefore as it was a defeat and it is a captured flag- Its A point of dishonour. It is now actually more part of the Huns history than Irelands. Its a dishonour that it still exists.
