Prices are up everywhere for everything. I got a letter from A Post today saying our negotiated business rate was going up 15c from 110. 14 per cent . I rang our relationship manager to try and reduce and he more or less laughed at me albeit politely. His advice “pass it on” (thanks Sherlock) which is what most businesses will do maybe ones with healthier balance sheets absorbing some of the costs. Which is what the ladies here are having to do with their costs - pass it on.
I wouldn’t personally like to be relying on the discretionary spend of callers at the moment as no more than the ladies most are feeling the pinch unless you’re in pharma or tech and the chilly wind is blowing there too. I saw someone recently who I know is very popular but she’s moving around like a ping pong ball way more than before as she says she can’t stay in same place as there just isn’t the same level of business. I don’t think she was poor mouthing.
