The rich don't see any of this, they're relatively unaffected.

I'm broadly in agreement with you Tony. Resources need to be used to solve the root of the problem. The current generation are already lost and are not for turning. Why are people homeless ? There's so many reasons and to address that would be a start. Some homeless people would cherish a new home, others wouldn't move in. I would love a Change of government but there's no alternative. With all the shouting Sinn Fein are doing there's nothing coming from their spokesman on integration which speaks volumes for that party.
Getting back to the topic of the no confidence motion, every time there's a crisis in some sector the first thing that the opposition call for is a motion of no confidence. If Sinn Fein want to be seen as a viable option to what's there then they need to start acting like they have something to offer

My father's house was broken into while he was home. He heard nothing. Neighbours placed 3 999 calls before calling me.
I raced over and had 7 Garda cars follow me to his house. I thought they were going to help my father, no they wanted to arrest me for speeding. I'm not exaggerating, the neighbours had batons and were fit to fight them given their response or lack of.

Find this very hard to believe, and if true and reported to the Garda Ombudsman im.sure you would have got a response.

Spot on there. The biggest point you make is that the Guards are unarmed. That needs to change. We're are not back in Devs Eire dancing at the crossroads, we need armed police on the streets.

Armed gardai are not as essential as a change in courts atttiude and stiffer sentences and no bail for repeat offenders.

I don't disagree with any of that. You are probably correct on every one.
But if are looking at facts.
The Gardai go out of their way not to properly record crime.
Time and time again I have been told of incidents where the Gardai have not responded to 999 calls / calls for help.
I have experienced it myself, so much so that I frankly wouldnt be bothered reporting crime now. It's pointless.
Talk to any business owner in the city and they will tell you exactly the same.

The reasons need to be addressed, I definitely agree there.
And I agree the judicial service have a lot to answer for.

I was in court last year for moral support for an employee who was up for a minor traffic offence that was dismissed.
While there I witnessed scum being fined for no insurance. Most excuses were it's too expensive. €500 fine for each and by memory a disqualificaton.
Then a girl, who had paid her insurance on a Friday and had all the paperwork. She was stopped over the weekend and produced her insurance. The insurance company was to fit a tracker on her car and this was booked for the Tuesday. She was unaware that she was uninsured without the tracker. She had paid and had her paperwork.
She got exactly the same punishment as the others who just couldn't be bothered with it.
And I thought to myself, that's just nonsensical.
Surely there must be a better way when a bit of common sense could be applied.

Dangerous criminals roam our streets, while grannies who didn't pay their tv licence are locked up.

This country is just nuts.



Oh and in response to the Garda ombudsman comment.
I made a complaint a few years back when stolen goods were recovered. I got a call to collect them. I arrived at the Garda station within 15 minutes to collect my things.
They had already been signed for by me and collected. The Gardai themselve stole my property.
So I kicked up war, local TD, rang a friend in Prime Time.
I was stopped about 20 times that week in my car. They appointed a Superindendent from another area to stop them stopping me.
Then the Gardai started stopping people leaving some of my businesses.
This obviously put my customers off so I gave up and let them have the things.

I had a car stolen last April. The Gardai didn't want to know. I had to make a complaint to the Superintendent to get them to even record it. In the end they pulled it in and told the driver the car was reported stolen. He had purchased it. They let him drive off in my car and left it up to him to return it. This is nuts.

i heard that that car ye had stolen was Bolloxed anyway and it broke down on the poor man that took it. He was going to take legal action because he reckoned he got a raw deal.
