City dwellers everywhere (and some town and even small village dwellers) imagine civilisation ends at the city limits. Sometimes civilisation finishes at the end of your street.
It is not just the traffic; there be dragons out there!

I live fairly central Dublin, and sometimes it feels like it finishes at the other end of the street.
Still better than small town suburban Dublin (where I'm from) or any turf town. Everyone knowing your business is not something I ever want to do again, and would gladly put up with traffic, easily avoidable problematic drug users, and the other issues Dublin city has, to have the controllable privacy that a big city affords you.
