I HATE CHRISTMAS (AND I KNOW I'M NOT ALONE)
    A Rant by anonymouse

I hate this miserable, overrated holiday and I hate the way it makes people behave.

I hate the shallow, fake little advertisements I see every goddamn place I go to that tell me how by going into endless debt to buy shit for my family and friends I’ll somehow be a better person.

I hate the advertising lines in the stores, I hate how the decorations go up in November under the guise of “holiday spirit” and I hate the people that buy into that sort of thing. I hate how they look at me funny when I say I don’t like the holiday and I don’t particularly like to celebrate it. I hate how they reminisce about their childhoods that were made just perfect by whatever shitty toy ended up under the tree when they were six.

I hate how watching a bunch of greedy, snot-nosed brats going into a psychotic rage over the sheer magnitude of stuff that their parents throw at them which is supposed to make me feel “joyous” and “warm” and “nostalgic,” even though we're doing nothing but raising the next generation of Americanised little cunts who want want want all the fucking time.

I hate how everyone asks for my money at Christmas and tries to guilt me into it.

I hate how everyone remembers poor people and homeless people for two weeks and then promptly forgets about them again.

I hate houses that are all done up garishly. I hate all the superficial cutsie little reindeer, snowmen, Santa Clauses, jingle bells, etc. Excuse me just a moment while I puke. Driving by some houses looks like a rainbow monster walked by and threw up all over the place. A very few are done well and are attractive but the vast majority are gaudy - and blinking lights make me dizzy, not happy. I hate those too.

I hate all Christmas songs. I especially hate "Stop The Cavalry" because it's retarded.

I hate all the expectations and demands placed on me at Christmas. I’m not poor but I’m not a millionaire yet, and I have bills to pay. There is an endless list of things I am expected to spend my money on - gifts for everyone, tips for all my service providers, food, christmas cards (hate those too), interior and exterior decorations, lights, etc, etc, etc. It is financially irresponsible to buy gifts for everybody at the same time. Fuck it all. Christmas has become the antithesis of itself. It is supposed to be an attitude from the heart of sharing, reflection, and spending time with the ones you love. For those who believe in Christianity it is supposed to be a quiet remembrance of the Biblical Christmas story. Instead, everybody rushes around going through the motions out of a sense of duty, panicking and arguing in the run-up, plastered drunk on the day, and anti-climactic afterward. They want to appear as though they have the Christmas spirit but instead are just mindlessly complying with all the demands and obligations that bombard us from every direction. They use up an unbelievable amount of time and money on Christmas stuff.

    I hate Christmas.

    A highly articulate rant.

I can't say I read every word of that but there's one thing I definitely agree with hating the idea of: gifts. I prefer to get what I want with my money, others can do what they want with theirs. What's the point in guessing what another person would like? Unless they tell you exactly what they want/need it's ridiculous guesswork.

Default Mousey, I agree with you........

I don't want to be all bah bugbug about it or anything but it's just so over commercialised. It's lost it's true meaning. Over the last number of years I've been increasingly disillusioned with the whole thing. I don't mean to put it down for anybody who enjoys it bit it's just lost on me at the moment...........

I remember a time when I received some fruit and a packet of baloons from my parnets and santa for Christmas, and I was truly greatful..........

    Better times.............

Dude, I like what you wrote, but I dont hate Christmas, I love te time off and spending t with family and firends, I hate the fact that we are all forgetting what Christmas is really about, how selfish!, it's all so materialistic, what we want and what we have to get for others, if you can mind read, read those minds buzzing around doing the Christmas chores and see how many of us actually think of what these days is all about, yes, celebrating Jesus birthday, Im not religous but just stating a point, if Jesus was here and banned the turkey, fancy food, fancy clothes, decor, pressies, alcohol...etc and just sit and listen to his stories all Chirstmas lovers will turn to Christmas haters.
Try it!, next time maybe your 40th birthday bash, invite all your friends and family to a an empty room just for a chat and see how many will turn up, the ones that do will be the ones true to you.

but still, take advantage of it, have a Happy Chistmas!!!
