The World Government is not being honest with us. I think it is not fires but death rays from the Flying Saucers piloted by extra-terrestrials that the government are in league with. The same aliens that started the Covid virus.
Of course, the World Government and their scientists would propagate the false news that metal is a good conductor of heat so absorbs the heat, and weakens, bends and ultimately melts, while wood is a poor heat conductor, and while it will burn, often just the surface chars and turns to charcoal that is an even poorer heat conductor and so resists heat, in certain circumstances, better than metal.
I prefer the Flying Saucer theory.
