The real story is the secret slush fund set up in cahoots with an agent in 2012. It was only brought into the books in 2019 by the new CFO, and then in a way that covered him but was not transparent. Every payment out of that account resulted in a 35% fee for the agent

There were no accounts of any kind in his day. Sure, he didn't even have a bank account himself.
