Thread: Things to do in France?

Default Things to do in France?

I’ll be going on holiday to France in may and was just wondering is there anything nice to do in France (Paris) and stuff that won’t be a tourist trap and drain my wallet? Haha thank you in advance guys! I love to eat and try new foods if that’s of any help, transport too because I don’t want to keep taking taxis and what not lol

I’ve always found Paris very expensive, if you move away from the Centre maybe twenty minutes walk you will find where the locals go nice food and drink at more reasonable prices, but unfortunately they have a deep resentment of English people so best to let them know you’re from Ireland (I’m presuming you are)

Go visit Jim Morrison's grave .

I was there over ten years ago.

Sacre Coeur in Montmartre is quite a sight and you can climb to the top for amazing views.

Hotel Des Invalides (Napoleon tomb) worth visiting.

    Then the obvious stuff.

I always hear people trying to be hip saying Paris isn't so great. Paris is amazing...hope you're bringing a good woman...not the same in Paris without .

Montmarte has a few irish bars, avoid like ghd plague. As a previous poster said check out smaller restaurants and bars. There was one opposite the Harp bar in Montemarte a few years ago that was reasonably priced and great food.

Personally Paris is way over rated. I've been maybe 6/7 times, plenty of amazing places in France outside Paris. And wear something Irish. They love the Irish and hate the Brits.

Ah I see it says "France"...I took it as specifically "Paris"...

Well I was only in Paris in France, but always wanted to do Normandy...will one day.

I know Marseille is supposed to be an interesting city also.

I’ll be mostly in and around the Paris area as it’s my first time travelling by myself so I don’t want to get lost and what not haha
