The thread is about the Far Right and tactics being used by them no more no less. We have a challenge to solve but not with Hate at its Centre. I posted elsewhere that it is complex and failures of government have created where we are
Your not going on the March that is your right as it is mine to attend. By attending I show my concern for what is clearly being done , thats is my right . This thread is about far right yes. But your solution of having a protest won't make a difference in stopping the rise of the far right. Closing our borders and stop letting in every migrant and refugee will have a massive effect.
Once the country deals with the current crisis we are about have with the current migrants and refugees already in the country then we can come up with a proper system to allow others to come to Ireland

Literally tens of thousands of migrants and refugees could end up on sleeping on the streets along with thousands of Irish homeless who are also currently in hotel accommodation. Our country has bigger problems than a few hundred far right protesters at the moment. And our government are happy to peddle the rise of the far west to distract us from the real issue.
Closing the border will go long keeping people more off the street and slowing the rise of the far right.

That's my solution.

I never said I had a solution , I do believe government need to do better , see my posts of afraid to go out at night , I think thats where I went into it a bit more. I do not think we can close our borders as per EU and Uk left on that , not going great for them.

I think we have to look at a range of initiatives and we need to be clear that we cannot deliver accomodation as currently delivered. I wonder how Poland are managing given the massive numbers they took in. I was wondering about decommissioned cruise ships but not serious thinking. I noticed Government putting 600 million into it today but not what that is. We have a housing crisis and we have had Rural Ireland being decimated for decades we have far to wide in equality , all of this needs to be addressed .

Do I have all the answers no I do not but I know that far right is not an answer and I believe we need to be there for others in need. We also need to weed out the false refugees , and remove. We Irish have emigrated as a way of life its in our culture we have been at it so long, we cannot shut up shop and as I say we probably cant , solving this will require co operation communication and shared goals not anger and hate.

An additional 1 million? Or to 1 million?

If it it is the former that means every one in six people will be foreign, if it's the latter it will be nearly every two in seven.

If the plan is to bring in more foreign nationals.

The Far Right are trying v v v hard to inflame , and off the back of that recruit more . Articles a plenty on Tik Tok video's that are fake inciting hate against migrants ( Immigrants ) .I hope we will have a huge march that quietly crushes the few. If Any , it would be the Ukrainian refugees who’d aim to return home — if it doesn’t take too long .

The other Immigrants imo would have No intention to return anywhere .

They’re not transitiory , not ‘passing through’ , not Migrant .

Not sure how to respond but a few thoughts on your post Steph and others, we are part of EU and should play our part . We should support Ukraine on our own or as part of EU

Of course bad actors need to be removed but often will not be easily seen till they become that , do we punish the innocent to solve it ?

My reason to attend is simple , I oppose the Far Right as I would the Far Left . I oppose the tactics and hate , I see a riot in Merseyside last night , wonder if we will get an understanding of how that riot started outside a refugee centre, social media posts about treatment of local girls it seems, sound familiar ?

I actually not a fan of Paul Murphy but I put all that to one side . I hope we will not allow this stuff to take root. That is my sole motive. Those wanting comprehensive fix it all now and forever , now have some sense this is a long term multi layered challenge , no instant solution . All I am saying loud and clear is no to what we have been seeing . Not the answer but it is part of it. No more no less .

BA brought the disturbance in Liverpool last night and indeed we will probably never know the full story.

A demonstration (peaceful at first apparently) was held outside a hotel housing asylum seekers.

The reported reason for the demonstration was because of some of the male residents behaviour towards local girls.

This was then met with a counter demonstration and violence eventually erupted with footage showing a police van on fire.

Now it's been reported as been organised by the far right.

So wherein lies the truth? Were local women mistreated?


We know that in certain societies that misogyny is much more prevalent and women are treated appallingly.

Or perhaps the far right have made the whole thing up ?

Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle.

It's hard to make out but she asks his age, he says 25 then she says I'm only 15 and he says that's good and then what I think he says is "I want to be your husband"
