What have we voted in.

Basically the birth of a European superstate in which Ireland rather than been at the heart of Europe will in time see it's influence reduced to that of a mere provence or county within that superstate.

It won't become apparant overnight , but it will.

No chance of that, the US, NATO and then the EU have been the greatest instruments of maintaining peace in Europe since the end of World War II. Such a conflict is now unthinkable in Europe...........it's been unthinkable within Western Europe for a long time, and since the collapse of the Iron Curtain and the integration of most of Central and Eastern Europe, the old Pax Romana has been extended to the countries with whom NATO enjoyed a cold war/armed peace 20 years ago. The integration of the remainder of the Balkans will make conflicts such as Bosnia and Kosovo less likely to reoccur. That just leaves us with separatist movements within states such as the Basques. I'm all for giving the Basques independence.................every people should have the God given right to f**k up their own country and economy independently. But they'll need God's help if they dont have EU membership and the ECB to bail their sorry asses out of the shit.

Will Donegal be declaring UDI now that the rest of Ireland has voted to hand over sovereignty to Brussels? If the UK opts out, the good folk of Donegal could always maintain their independence by joining up with the brothers and sisters in the sterling zone. I can just imagine a coalition of Sinn Fein and UKIP doing the powersharing fandango in Belfast.

I agree not from an internal EU countries, but rather as Russia will view the new EU superstate with suspision, especially as the EU has been snapping up former Soviet states, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Latavia while Russia has been militarily weak.
Now under Putin Russia has once again been "improving military capabilities" as so sweetly coined in the Lisbon Treaty.
There are a couple of scanarios that could bring this about, one being that the natural gas and oil will run out in the Nort Sea in the next 10 to 15 years, the only country with an "endless supply " is Russia, the next war will be fought on the lack of Resources.
Just to prove how strong Russia has become the USA has recently backtracked into putting Inteceptor missiles in Poland on direct threaths from Russia.
