How they can just make up lies like this to bring in dangerous laws is not right. When the real reason is that they just want to control what people can do. Also, a lot of older residents don't want escorts in their neighbourhood as they feel it devalues their neighbourhood so the vote for these governments (just the same as older people here say no to new developments in their area).
Of course there are some women that are being forced into it by gangs but it no where near the % the claim, and driving the sex trade underground will do the opposite of helping the people who they claim they want to help. If you push the whole trade underground then you don't know which escorts are being forced and which are doing it by choice. Maybe that is on purpose as it gives the government more leeway to make statements like the women are mostly all forced? They also define trafficking as bring someone across a boarder. They don't mention that it was the person's own choice to go travel to work as a sex worker. A lot of the people that are "forced" into sex work are "forced" by their financial circumstances and they choose sex work to make good money as fast as possible. It might not be the fairy tail dream they had but they choose it over working in minimum wage jobs which cannot help them get out of financial problems.
I really think these governments don't care about helping the vulnerable people at all and just want to push through their agenda. Deamonising men also seems to be the trend lately.
What do other think the reason for this new law is?
I saw a documentary on this topic last year sometime. Some towns in Spain along the border with France and Portugal have several sites , too many according to some locals. Certain people have been trying to get them closed down in the short term but ultimately they want to criminalise sex work.
Introducing the Nordic model is a massive step in the wrong direction but then again it hasn’t made much of a difference if any for punters here.
