Well PETA are fairly extreme. They oppose animal ownership in any circumstance (even Dogs and Cats who couldn't cope without humans).
So when they they operate shelters their kill rate is astonishingly high and won't allow re-adoption even to good homes.

Lunatics the lot of them, no matter the cause. Whether it's animal rights, human rights, environmental, economical, etc. Deluded the lot of them. Like, take the Peta group and everyone saying 'going vegan will; save the world'. Really? You do realise then that all these farm animals are going to have to be massively culled then, to attain any environmental benefits? And even then and the ENTIRE world goes vegan; there's still 8 billion humans on the planet that need feeding/housing/etc. 100 years ago, there was barely 2 billion of us. Now there's 8 billion. You want to save the world, then treat the cause not the symptom; human overpopulation. Fucking idiots....

Edit: and I'm not saying we cull 8 billion humans.... but we need to do something. Look at China's 1 child policy. It was so effective that they had to end it!

Boys are valued more than girls; more girls were aborted and given up for adoption, more girls left their villages for the cities and other countries, there were no women for most men to marry. China is still the most populated nation in the world rivaled only by India, who it should be pointed out had no such policy regarding the number of children a family could produce.
