Thread: Your next chariot?

  1. Default Your next chariot?

Thinking of replacing my car in 2023 and was looking at EV’s/hybrid.

To date I have only owned diesel or petrol but am thinking EV or hybrid.

Welcome your thoughts and anyone you has made the switch, how have Rey found it?

The experts say you should either go electric or stick with petrol/diesel and avoid hybrid as its neither one nor t'other. Hang on another 10 years before switching to electric for the ordinary Joe when better equipment and value will be the norm.

Hybrids suit a particular segment of the market. If they say the car will do the first 60 km on charge realistically that will mean around 40. If the vast majority of your daily commute is in or around two thirds of the quoted range then they are fine and will require petrol infrequently, not sure how they work if daily commute is a lot over two thirds of stated range

I read that 10% of new car sales are EV/hybrid

Do we have enough charging points in Ireland?

Stick with petrol/diesel for the next 5 yrs at least as the car industry is not set up just yet for electric.
No two way's about it, I am the best looking punter in Ireland.

bit of a gimmick and did look at a few, even had one out for a bit but they're so expensive, it certainly was not doing the distance it said on a full charge,Grants were available to get people interested too but they did go up in price since the war as if they were not expensive enough . i'm fixing up an old Golf gti at the minute and these are the smart buy
