I logged on, first time in a while to ask this. Numbers in Cork are reduced a lot since the last time I checked down that way.

A genuine question, is there something I'm missing? Aside from Covid and deteriorating into a cost of living thread?

I know Dublin is having a big problem with accommodation as the government are hoovering up a lot of apartments for refugees. My regular is on a waiting list for September. This is true.

Its not just Dublin, and it will get worse, lot of refugees are staying in college accommodation, but of course when Summer ends, the refuges need to be housed somewhere else to make way for the students

Ya I got a hotel room (included access to gym/spa)in portlaoise 4 years ago for 1 night for €59, its now €280.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Ireland has never been the easiest place to find good hotels/apartments in with nosey people and key cards being commonplace. But as someone that first toured here 13 years ago I can say it’s worse than ever.

I just paid over €300 for one night at an airport hotel I paid €70 euro for back in the day. The costs of touring have increased dramatically (here is looking at advert costs as well as travel etc) and the average cost of companionship has just lowered over the years.

Our government being foolish...no way! Nothing new there...

I'm pretty sure there's going to be a big problem for all of us coming soon...and for once it'll be E.I. , escorts and punters united in the frustration, but I'm expecting it. Hopefully it'll be ok.

I could be wrong but this seems a little different, they're pissing off people who for the most part have zero interest in politics

An example, fella I work with broke up with his GF, so he had to move out of their apartment, and was staying in a hotel while he looked for a new place. Anyway, one day a knock on the door, its the hotel manager, he needs my mate to move out ASAP, but my friend has no place to go. the hotel manager has some sympathy, so he asks does he mind sharing his room with a refugee, the answer is not really, no. So he could be homeless soon

Looked at doing a week's holiday in Ireland this year in a 4 star hotel, Kerry/Cork, it averaged about 2 grand for the hotel alone. Ended up going 5 star in Bulgaria, with flights included, 1 grand for the week, if you go down to 3 star hotels you'll do a week with flights for about €500.
Add on the prices for restaurants, bars, visitor attractions (weather) and you'd be mad to holiday here in Ireland.

No question costs are effecting the numbers touring, at €300 a night in hotels I'd expect the hourly rate will have to move to around €300 soon enough if the escorts are going to make a margin that gives them good disposal income when they are off work.

Same can be said about the quality of clients in some areas. Timewasters and hagglers, abusive people are showing their faces more and more. No wonder quality girls are leaving or not returning to a place. It is what it is so better make the most of what we have while we have it.

why not turn the huge cathedrals and chapels into accommodation for the refugees over there as reading on here no one goes to them,

If my every clients are paying €50 I have to have 19 clients/ week for my rent, advert.

& I had no one day off in the all month.

I See your point Jess but you're probably working alone so not ideal for you but for these ladies they have friends who can share the costs so it makes it fine to charge this.
In England the some Agencies down to 30 quid per half hour on a Friday and Saturday now,
