It is nothing to do with the Legal age of consent in Ireland, it is to do with EI policy. Most adult sites have the 18 age as the minimum following the USA.

Although the occupation of prostitute is not illegal, trying to solicit a client for the purpose of prostitution is illegal under the 1993 act, therefore you can assume that being a prostitute is a grey legal area, and in fact I doubt Revenue would have anyone on their files with their occupation declared as "Prostitute".
You quoted the 2006 act yet if you actually took the time to read it the only offense close to what you are saying is "defilement of a child under 17 years" therefore you are incorrect as to the age as well.

As I have checked out most of the laws and statutes but can find no reference to 18 is the minimum legal age for a prostitute.

As I have stated before to my knowledge this does not exist in any Irish law, act the act of prostitution is illegal under the 1993 Act, therefore I doubt any other act would state "18 is the minimum legal age for a prostitute" as this would have two laws contradicting each other.

For example the 1995 public order act under the section Prohibition of advertising of brothels and prostitution does not mention an age.

Also the 2006 Act mentions that it is an offense with someone under 17 years.

No one including Ber has been able to point to the specific act that states "18 is the minimum legal age for a prostitute in Ireland (Child prostitution Legislation exists to protect persons under this age.)"

So if you don't mind can you tell me the source of the quote.
