If NI will be nuked then the whole world will be fucked... There's no reason for Russia nuke Ireland or NI. In that war even without direct attack about 80% of the world will be polluted for thousand years in advance... Wind, rain will spread radioactive materials throughout the globus... That's the theory of that war.
Practically there were few thousand nukes blasted in air... We survived... There peoples living their lives around Semipalatinsk, in Nevada...
So I think it could be dangerous for some short period (I mean year or two). Some places like close to nuclear plants can be for longer. There still some people living in Chernobyl area...
Even theorical if you get under direct blast and you survive it, you can go outside on fourth day out of you bunker.
