    Hi Stephanie.

My taste in music has never changed since I was 15.
Always a rocker since I form my own band at 16.

I remember when I bought my first cassette ( clue about my age) "Seventh son of a seventh son" a masterpiece by Iron Maiden.
It blew my mind away into million pieces. A concept album, we're all the songs we're about the same theme.
The sound of the twin guitars, the arrangements, the changes in tempo, the bass lines, the voice of Bruce Dickinson, the lyrics, it was incredible. Since that day I knew I wanted to play an instrument.
I stopped listening to new music when I quitted playing in my last band in 2010.

Went back to the old tunes. Music scene is pretty much dead these days, ( with few exceptions there)singers that can't sing without autotune, all music is recorded separately and done with a computer. It sounds perfect but without that secret ingredient that is generated when a band plays together.

Ian Guillan said once that's the reason why vinyls sounds much better that any music recorded with a computer today.

Back then you had the whole band playing together and it was 1 take. If you made a mistake during the recording, you had to start all over again, so musicians had to concentrate a lot, and when they were playing, an special atmosphere and feedback was created between them . That is impossible today, were every single instrument is recorded separately, and hundreds of takes are pasted and modified until they are perfect. I Don't even want to bother you with the use of compression these days...just Google the loudness war.

Rock ( and all its variants), heavy metal, blues, classical, jazz, reague, bossa nova, tango, Country, folk, tradional Irish, whatever that is not mainstream is ok with me.

I can't make a list, it will be endless, you should check the music thread. We play good tunes there.

    Thanks

    Rant over.
