Thread: Is it illegal to make gonzo porn in Ireland?

  1. #1

Default Is it illegal to make gonzo porn in Ireland?

Let's say you're making a porno and decide to go down the Orson Welles route and direct and star in your masterpiece. Would this be illegal since you hired a woman for sex? Or is there some loophole?

Technically, shouldn't it be illegal to simp on ____________- since your paying for sexual services?

    I think it would be.
You are paying for sexual services, which is illegal.
This said the chances of being caught and prosecuted are low

Filming and subsequently broadcasting/publishing ALL sex acts is illegal in Ireland under the obscene publications act. The Internet has made this a grey area where people "get away with it".

There is no Irish porn industry for this reason.
A film produced by a UK company called "Fucked In Ireland" featuring Irish girls was shot over the border in the North. Same with the TVX series with Local GAA stars fucking a girl in a caravan. Exterior shots of the trailer were taken in Ireland and the actual scenes were shot in the UK.

And yet pornhub has an office in Ireland and pays their taxes here, effectively having our government profit from broadcasting and publishing sex acts. The lack of logic and consequence just kills me.
