Default How do you like having a boss or how do you handle it

this is something Ive been raising with people lately -

Im finding am getting crankier as I get older or less tolerant to having bosses. my work is an office job and basically I have to fall in line with a standard 9 to 530/6.00 day,

I notice recently that I am really resenting this- who are these people to have control over my time to such an extent and why do I have to accept this as my lot in life,

perhaps a good thing about escort work is that you are pretty much your own boss.

    Anyway what am I asking

Id like to know your feelings on having bosses? how do you handle it? Do any of the rest of you resent being controlled or answerable to bosses?

some of you probably are bosses-

interested at any rate on hearing peoples thoughts.

Even your boss has a boss. I know in my area,as a regional manager, I don't really have the autonomy I hoped I would,I'm sort of a slave to company policy even though I may look to others as having power. I felt the same as a team leader and manager.
Don't be so hard on your boss, they are not much different to you.

Maybe you need to retire ? Did it ever occour to you that maybe your boss could have a pain in his arse having to deal with you aswell? I know from my own experience of having people working for me how hard it is to keep the staff happy and try and get the job done at the same time. In my time of having people working for me I have found that the more easy going I am, the more I ve been walked on and disrespected. The funny thing is that the people that work for you the longest are sometimes the ones that try to hold you to ransome and think they know what buttons to push to upset you. Just my thoughts.

I've been my own boss for a few years now after working for a company and both have their good and bad points.

In theory I'm my own boss, but you are always answerable to someone - clients don't just give you money - and unless you've had to chase up getting paid or looked at the account wondering how you'll meet wages this week you don't understand the stress. I've had to go without wages for a while until invoices were paid several times, just to ensure the staff can be paid. It comes in the end, but there's always the one or two who'll try to stiff you or will offer to pay straight away for a discount. You're supposed to pay straight away you *@*@!

On one hand I've a lot more freedom to take off for an hour or a day to something I have too because I can just work a bit at the weekend or late at night, but then you find yourself working at the weekends or late at night because you have to anyway. Sometimes you're working late to ensure your staff have work - paradox of being any bit successful means you spend time ensure the machine is fed.

When I was an employee I was lucky that the boss wasn't a clock watcher and coming in a little late or leaving a little early was fine as long as the work was done, but having your days off counted down on the notice board or getting unreasonable amounts of work to do was always a pain. Having said that, once I was out the door I didn't have to think about it again until the next day, and weekends were rare, but paid double time.

Some days I do yearn for that simplicity and division between work and home. When you're self-employed you're never 'off'. All in all though, being able to set your own hours is probably better than being an employee.

ok yes thanks for the replies,

Yes well Im too young for retirement- early 40s, and financially not an option,

Ive decided overnight anyway that am not going to continue as things are,

two options are to request a shorter week or to go completely as a self employed operator and take a chance going solo,

for now I am going to request a shorter working week and we will see how that goes.

Good luck. Being happy in yourself is most important in this life.

Just be careful of the fast women and the slow horses .

Wrong boss or wrong employee or maybe a bit of both.
