Today's article in the Sindo by Brighid McLaughlin about her encounter with Ian Bailey is absolutely chilling. She was petrified. He said to her she looked like Sophie then took her to an isolated place up a mountain! Recommended reading for anybody interested in the case.

One suggestion was that they wanted to secure any evidence and materials before they were stolen and put on eBay.

One suggestion was that with the advances in DNA that they may be able to get enhanced samples.it would be good if they could get something that would help them definitively to prove a case either way against him. I would have thought that it would not be necessary to wait until now to get better DNA samples but then again I don’t the law either

That’s like in Jeffrey Dahmer case. They had to destroy all as they were afraid there will be these weird collectors wanting his items. I getting goosebumps just to think about it.

Cold case has been going on for some time now, pressure/push and a refresh at death from the French gov./authorities and her family prob - they are fairly well up/well to do.

As Privet said ^^^, with advances in science and technology they may be better equipped now to link something to prove. I'd agree too, he was likely to have been v. difficult to deal with. TBH, it's really her family, the two sons, I feel most sorry for, only teens when she was v. viciously murdered and spending their lives trying to get the truth and justice. sad

Same as that truck that loads of migrants died in the back of. It ended up in a UK state auction and had to be scrapped. But the scrap pieces from it sold for stupid money....... some sickos buying that stuff.

Respectfully? No I don’t think this is the case as Gardaí have an obligation to secure all evidence in an investigation so they should have all evidence gathered by now - well that is all evidence that they are aware of so Perhaps new information came to light after his death, or as another poster has said maybe it was to collect DNA samples? Although I think that they could have gotten a warrant to obtain this while he was still alive?

I honestly don’t have an informed opinion on this, There are people convinced of this man’s guilt but equally there also seems to be people convinced of his innocence, it’s a strange one.
