Why did you bother?

I presume you found this place, saw sexy girls, and decided to go for it.... but why take the time to actually create a profile.....

Was it to impress the newly met exciting girls? Or was it coz this forum is great craic...

Or was it a decision to review, and be either thinking "she'll see this and think I'm cool" or maybe its "I'll be calm and informative and tell it as it is??? ... Bollix, newbies are shite reviewers!!!

All very significant life events and achievements but some people will not have children, fewer will get married, fewer still write a book (never mind a great book) and even fewer considered great enough for memoirs; yet everyone leaves their mark, it's fundamentally human. I had a lover, she wrote her name in the margins of a book I was reading, she never read it, borrowed it or was interested in its contents; I once carved my initials on a pebble and cast it into Dublin Bay, it will never be found or seen by anyone who knew me. Insignificant things that make no sense in the grand scheme, just like the high scores in the arcade. Everything is ephemeral but we hope it isn't.

I wanted to leave my mark and I have, not just here but elsewhere.

I remember spending a lot of time in arcades when I was younger, I would watch the older lads playing the games. Most were just killing time but a few were very skillful. The time wasters would either be very rough with the machines or careless, shoving coins in the slot then cursing or simply walking away. The few, who knew what they were doing, would take their time and learn to play the game. They would be rewarded with an opportunity to input their initials if they scored highly enough and everyone, irrespective of skill or money spent, would see their legacy on the screen.

There's something very human about wanting to leave your mark, however insignificant, and passing on knowledge to others. It's an attempt to live on, in memories and writing. Others will benefit, but it's really about not being forgotten, the ego's refusal to acknowledge it's inevitable end.

We all leave our mark, be it on a tree or by our legacy be it children, history or by the people we meet and touch . Most are not visible or recognised. Don’t look to be remembered because those that really make aren’t remembered. Most people we help rarely remember or thank.

I hope one day I CAN LEAVE MY MARK. Is not that the reason we are in this planet? I would like to be remember when I am gone for something I did that changed somebody's life. Maybe something I create or invent that will change people's life. Be music, art, politics, whatever.
We are in this world to fulfill a purpose, we need to find out WHAT THAT PURPOSE IS...
