This is well known ^^^^ , but thank you for recounting it .

If you were over there and that’s the ‘Army Slang’ :: were you in the Irish armed forces ?

: if it’s ‘army slang’ - Grand :: it hurts my ear , my eyes , and my heart to read ‘Tally’

for Taliban — almost sounds like you’re ‘pally’ with the Tally ..

Above , I was curious to see if you actually Know the Origin of yer pally Tally Taliban .

    Do you ?
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

I'm not going to get into a debate here over words 😃

The answer is no, I wasn't in the British Army, but I was a civilian who did something there and worked very closely with ISAF, forces in the North of the country. I worked with the army, but not for the army for over13 years. I also did some work with the US Army from time-to-time and even the Germans over there. My Job was very boring and I did most of it by talking to people and not shooting at them. I was in contacts with the Taliban, but I wasn't a front-line combat soldier and could have never did their job.

I know everyday what I did and where I worked because I wake up every morning with the reminder: my right knee, the right side of my upper and right lower back are both nackerred, my neck and left ankle were also injuried. I lost the feeling in the first three fingers of my left hand, my hearing was damaged and I walk with a painful limp. I live with cronic pain every day and take enough pain killers to knock out a horse. I have striped the lining out of my stomach, because I took so much pain medication over the years. I was in hospital before Christmas with complications with my kidneys caused by my injuries. I take anti-depressants every day, have to sit facing the door in a restaurant and jump out of my skin every time I hear a loud noise, or a bang. I still dream about stuff when I get stressed. I don't drink, nor never drank alcohol because I knew I would end up with addiction problems, like so many of the people I worked with. I never smoked because most of the people I worked with were so stressed out that they were chain smokers.

I was injuried over there when something really crap happened to me, but it was what it was. I felt sorry for myself for a long time and then picked my arse off the ground one day and tried to put my life back together.

Anyone, who is real, or severed in the forces only carried home their bad memories of the past and their injuries home. That and the dust because no matter how many showers you take, dust and grit gets everywhere and you keep finding it in places that you never thought possible when you get home.

You can't begin to understand how much I hate the Taliban and extremist Muslim's. If I put those feelings into words I would be banned off here and cause an out cry from all the keyboard warrior's.

You maybe can understand that the Army isn't like the movies it has slang for stuff that isn't used in Hollywood.

I still use this slang and take it for granted: a brew (tea), scoff (food) an egg banjo (an egg bap), a basher (is were you sleep), a wagon (was a land rover); my favourites are a shit show (something is really bad) and a cake and arse party (is when someone goes really wrong), I could go on because it's like another language. The Brits call the Taliban 'Tally', sorry I didn't pick the name.

Thanks for commenting on my post.😃

You yourself are a really intresting person. Did I read on your profile that you said that you came from the US?🇺🇸

I worked with a load of Yanks during my career. I made great friends who are American and I still keep in contact with them.

American people are often misunderstood, I have been invited to stay in North Carolina at a mates cabin, he found the light and is now a Chaplin. I love American and ended up studying American History at University.

I would love to hear what you think of your nations history and What you think of the US role over there? What State do you come from and what food do you miss form back home. I had an aqured taste for US MRE meals because they were better than ours.

Anyway, my battery 🔋 is nearly flat and I am off to get my supper (a brew and some scoff).😃

What exactly are they gonna do differently if they go back in again?
Wasn't the whole pretense 20 years ago that we were gonna liberate?
How would another 20 years make a difference?
