    American Alpine Club membership

Don’t remember how much it cost / year ; I had it for my rock climbing mainly ,

but it did cover me up to 6,500 meters anywhere in the world .

I remember I carried a laminated note w my name and details on it ,

in case something happened and wouldn’t be able to communicate .

Top compartment of my 15+ kg backpack.

    / can’t imagine what it must be today , but it’s a racket .

Them ‘Ten-Dayers’ get insurance in KTM that also cover airlift evacuation -

and that’s their ‘plan’ : get pushed and carried up at great risk to health and

    survival ( altitude sickness , cerebral edema , pulmonary edema : deadly ) ,

and once they snapped Da Photo , they get rescued out by helicopter to Lukla

where they’ll get on first flight out .

Nepal insurance companies ; Nepal helicopter companies ; and even high mountain

pony outfits just raking it in ( ponies for the higher altitudes where helicopters

cannot fly due to thin air - no uplift ) . It’s become a shameless racket , fueled by

Western ( or rather just ‘those who can afford it’ including global fools ) dimwits

wanting to brag and post their pics on Social Media .

A shame to see such sacred ground defiled in this way . Soul lost .
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

get on the mountain . : Will I flash my Photos ? , quitter .

: what Is the right attitude for climbing a mountain ?

    Please tell
My post was in response to the opening post, not any of your subsequent posts.

I presume climbing a mountain is like any other challenge. You can either face it, do it and continue on or come up with reasons why it cant be done. Your mental attitude will determine which route you take.

Dont let people who say it cant be done get in the way of people doing it.

What an absolute money grabbing country.

so only the rich of the rich can climb it.

i know the season starts in a couple of weeks so expect those rich thrill seeking travellers will be living on that mountain for 2 months.

now i've no experience of climbing but i'd certainly give it a go if i had the money. there is only a 1.4% chance you will die so i'd take my chances!

As for the 2nd highest mountain the world K2, it's 25% chance of death , less than 400 people have reached the summit there & some of those that did died on the decent
The third highest mountain anapurna is supposed to be one of the most dangerous. The incredible thing about everest is how the guys in the old days managed to climb it with fuck all. Mallery came very close to conquering it as well and it think this was back in the twenties.

Would you even call walking up a mountain holding on to a rope climbing.Mountain hiking would be a better description.
    Civility costs you nothing.
