Default Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix

    Race 06:00 Sunday 19th

    2) Carlos Sainz, [Ferrari] [10-place grid penalty]
    3) Max Verstappen, [Red Bull]
    4) George Russell, [Mercedes]
    5) Pierre Gasly, [Alpine]
    6) Alex Albon, [Williams]
    7) Logan Sargeant, [Williams]
    8) Valtteri Bottas, [Alfa Romeo]
    9) Kevin Magnussen, [Haas]
    10) Fernando Alonso, [Aston Martin]

    11) Lewis Hamilton, [Mercedes]
    12) Sergio Perez, [Red Bull]
    13) Nico Hulkenberg, [Haas]
    14) Lance Stroll, [Aston Martin] [five-place grid penalty]
    15) Daniel Ricciardo, [AlphaTauri]

    16) Lando Norris, [McLaren]

    18) Zhou Guanyu, [Alfa Romeo]
    19) Oscar Piastri, [McLaren]
    20) Yuki Tsunoda, [AlphaTauri]

Lance Stroll has a five-place grid penalty for the race after overtaking Carlos Sainz under double waved yellow flags during final practice.
Carlos Sainz suffered major car damage in First Practice when a drain cover came loose; to add insult to injury gets a 10-place grid penalty for a battery part change

Qualifying and the race is being run late at night; it is cold and they are issues over tyre temperatures.

I seen on the news about the drain cover coming loose. That is just crazy and potentially lethal !

Can't remember anything like that happening in Monaco.
    Hello darkness my old friend.....

Happened at 199MPH. Carlos Sainz lucky to escape uninjured. Could easily been killed. And then to get a penalty because of the damage. But, rules are rules.

Never has happened at Monaco. They run too good an operation there. Has happened at other street circuits but never has caused this sort of damage.

Did someone hit a drain cover in Azerbaijan a couple of years ago, a drain cover or something similar I remember it most because the lorry collecting the damaged car crashed or hit something on the way back to the pits,

You up bright and early tomorrow Steve?

Almost a carbon-copy but did not seem to be as dangerous because the car's speed was lower. I think the car was George Russell's Williams. As you say, the recovery truck's crane then hit a bridge on the way back and leaked hydraulic oil all over the car on the back. Not a good look.

I might try and get up early for the race.
First place for both teams and drivers is done and dusted but there is still some other places that could change. For example, Mercedes may be hoping for a Max Verstappen win to push Ferrari down the points; good result from Ferrari could see them overtake Mercedes for second place.

Max Verstappen gets lead immediately. Needed that because it is hard to manage tyres here and he could not afford to get caught behind Charles Leclerc.

Aggressive move from Max Verstappen. Did he run Charles Leclerc off the road?

Lando Norris in the wall. Full Safety Car. He is OK. Will a Red Flag be needed?

Was expected here. Tyres and cold conditions; likely to be incident-filled race.

Five pole positions this season for Charles Leclerc so far but no race wins. Eleven win-free poles in a row. 23rd pole position in his career

Racing again. Max Verstappen and Red Bull have decided they will not give that controversial start position back. If the stewards rule against them it will be a five-second penalty.

Max Verstappen has been confirmed as getting a five-second penalty.
Suspect Red Bull will hope he will win the race more than five seconds ahead.
